Dr. Katharine W. Winograd was elected president of the Central New Mexico Community College in July 2007, heading up the state’s leading community college and largest higher education institution in New Mexico in terms of undergraduate enrollment. Dr. Winograd is the first female president of the college, which serves more than 23,000 college-credit and 4,000 non-credit students at five campuses, the STEMulus Center, the Workforce Training Center and the Advanced Technology Center in the Albuquerque-Rio Rancho metro area. She is a highly respected leader in the New Mexico higher education community, and she's the longest serving president among New Mexico's public community colleges and universities. She recently announced her retirement effective in 2020.
