Our meeting this week will include the presentation of the final figures of last year's budget (through June 30) and the proposed budget for the current year, plus highlights of the recent International Convention in Toronto, Canada. It will be led by Club President Donna Pedace. We will also be honoring our APD Officers of the Month.

Burly has a diverse background. He began working on best practices to achieve liberty-minded social change while working as a trader in the global financial markets.  Burly received a degree in Economics from the University of New Mexico with honors. Burly served as the Digital Director for the Gary Johnson presidential campaign where he and his staff built the largest third party campaign in US history in 4 months.

He served as the Deputy Director of Policy for the 2015 New Mexico House of Representatives.  He was a candidate for House District 17 in New Mexico in 2012.  He helped found APS/UNM Backpacks for Kids, an annual event to provide school supplies to impoverished children.  He currently provides consulting services through his company Vis Vires, and resides in Albuquerque.

APD Police Chief Mike Grier has more than 43 years of police experience, including 20 years with the Albuquerque Police Department. He left APD to become Chief of Police in Rio Rancho for three years, before being appointed as the new APD Chief. Chief Geier served as commander for nearly five years in APD's Criminal Investigation Division, and before that he served as the Commander of the Department's Southeast Area Command.

"Don't Meth With Us Anti-Drug Program"

Maureen Anderson is a member of our Del Norte Rotary Club and wife of Past District Governor Dave Anderson. She has been involved for the past three years in providing fifth graders in the Albuquerque Public Schools the dangers of drug use, especially the dreaded methanol toxic drug that can disfigure a person for life. Her program is titled "Don't Meth With Us," and is an anti-drug program that is sponsored by Rotary clubs throughout the nation.
