Barbara has dedicated nearly 30 years to volunteer leadership, including 23 years as Manager of Volunteer Services prior to her current role. During the pandemic, she worked closely with the UNM Foundation and Children’s Miracle Network to help lead the annual toy drive—an effort she continues to support today.

Please keep our club member Tanya McKinney in your thoughts and prayers. On March 25th she was in an automobile accident that damaged her recently replaced knee joint and bumped and bruised some additional parts of her body. She is in a fair amount of pain, but in good spirits. She will be seeing her doctor on Monday, April 6th for a full assessment of the damage and a rehabilitation plan. She is being well cared for by her husband but would love to hear from some Rotarians as well. Please consider reaching out to her, and pray for a positive doctor’s visit on Monday, and a speedy and complete recovery from her recent injuries.
Year Long Year of Cheer
Marilyn Strube, Contributing
The Rotary Club of Albuquerque Del Norte Year of Cheer project is just that, it is a YEAR LONG project that is working hand in hand with the UNM Children’s Hospital bringing cheer to their approximately 40,000+/- patients this year. The Del Norte Board recognized the importance of Year of Cheer and adopted the Year of Cheer project as it is “signature” project for the fiscal year 2025-2026 and is committed to supporting this amazing project through the end of June 2026.
Del Norte Rotary members have done an amazing job so far, but the work is not over. It is actually just getting started. At every Del Norte meeting there is a donation box for members and guests to drop off much needed items for the UNM Children’s Hospital patients and Del Norte members have done just that, filled the donation box with items that bring a smile to their recipients over and over. Your items are always welcome and please keep them coming.
Year of Cheer is not just the donation box at the Del Norte Rotary meetings, it is a community effort, and we need you to help make that happen. Several businesses associated with Del Norte Rotary members have joined the effort and placed donation boxes in their places of business, creating that sense of community with Del Norte while brightening the lives of young patients. They are making a difference in their place of work, and you can too! Maybe there is a business that you patronize that might like to join the Year of Cheer effort and bring even more smiles to these young patients faces. Because Year of Cheer is such an amazing project, it is easy to reach out to local businesses and see if they would like to join our effort. If you are unsure of what to say just give Maureen Anderson or Marilyn Strube a call and they will gladly help you. Thank each and every one of you for realizing the importance of Year of Cheer and making a difference. Please keep up the great work!

Backpack Program Update 💛
The Del Norte Rotary Backpack Program is entering the final 60 days of the school year, and the need continues. Each week, we are providing food-filled backpacks to seventy students at Manzano Mesa Elementary, helping ensure they have meals and snacks for the weekend.
But we can’t do it alone.
🌟 Join us on this journey. Whether you volunteer your time or help spread the word, your support helps ensure no child is left wondering where their next meal will come from.
Together, we can make hunger one less thing a child has to worry about.
Del Norte is participating in a region-wide program to build accessibility ramps for elderly and disadvantaged persons. Anyone that would like more information or to participate should contact Terry Boulanger at 505-263-9505, or taboulanger@gmail.com
