Our outgoing President, Clarence Hughes, received a standing ovation at our last meeting as he bid farewell to the past year.  Clarence endured quite a lot of challenges, but managed to lead us to a very successful year and had a long list of achievements:

* He returned us to the Sheraton after Covid and             re-established in-person meetings

* He helped us induct 13 new members into the club         raising our membership to over 100

* He hosted numerous events at his home with his           lovely wife, Erika

* He achieved all of our Foundation and Polio-plus            goals for the year.

* He continued our  numerous community service             projects

At the final meeting Rotarian, Hass Aslami, was named the Rotarian of the year for 2022-23.  Hass is the owner of Pizza 9 and Chello Grill and is known as one of the most generous businessmen in the community.  It was a well-deserved honor for a man that is always the first to volunteer to be of service to others.

Past District Governor, Bob Rausch and our own Past President, Sandra Rausch were honored at the recent meeting for their generous donations to the Rotary International Foundation.  Both club members became Major Donors to the Foundation, having contributed in excess of $10,000 to the organization.  They received Their Major Donor Pins to a standing ovation by the club.

This Edition of the Rotary Del Norte Northwind is dedicated to the memory of Our Previous Editor & Fellow Rotarian, Ed Hughes, who always made every article & every picture so much fun!  We miss you, Ed.

Welcome to the start of our Rotary new year.  The Rotary       International theme for this year is “IMAGINE” so I invite all of you to imagine all the things we can do for our club this year.

Your Board has been working for months to develop programs that will provide you with as many events and activities as possible. We anticipate that you will have the opportunity to attend over 80 events.  If you so desire you can have a Rotary experience almost every day of the week.

Although we will continue with our scheduled lunch meetings on the second and fourth  Wednesdays every month, the Satellite meetings will continue the first and third weeks in the evening for those of you that want to attend a meeting every week.

I invite you to imagine all the amazing things that can happen if we all step up to help us have the best Rotary experience ever.  As part of that we encourage all of you to sign up for one of our numerous club committees. You will see “Sign Up” sheets on your tables at the next meeting.          Each one of them meets regularly each month for planning and fellowship providing yet another opportunity to enhance your Rotary experience.
