Speaker, Kristen Gamboa, Economic Development Specialist for PNM

Kristen, an economic development professional, was introduced by Rotarian Sherri Wells. Kristen shared insights into her work in Valencia County and its neighboring communities. Kristen has a long history in driving economic growth,  and  provided  an overview of the fundamentals of economic development, addressing key questions such as:

  • How does the community benefit?
  • How does the company create and retain jobs?
  • Is the company an economic-based business?

Did you know that 80% of new jobs and capital come from companies that already exist in our communities?

Kristen outlined the steps to developing an effective economic development plan, emphasizing the importance of conducting industry visits, maintaining a consistent visitation schedule, and follow-up.

PNM  works closely with local Chambers of Commerce, the University of New Mexico, and various major operations across the state. They also work closely with the Albuquerque Area Economic Development Team.

Currently, PNM is working on the expansion of solar projects which are expected to create over 2,000 jobs, the development of more META buildings with investments exceeding $2 billion, and major expansions at Intel.

Economic development impacts every corner of New Mexico. Many companies, especially data companies, considering relocation, frequently inquire about the availability of power grids, land and skilled labor.

Kristen concluded her presentation with a video, highlighting New Mexico as a "pioneer" and an "innovator," always ready to tackle any challenge that comes its way.

Welcome Caleb Guerrero and Erin Riley

Erin is with the USDA and is a second generation Rotarian.  Her father is an active Rotarian and is currently attending the Rotary International Conference in Singapore.

Caleb is the founder of Valor Digital Marketing Company and a  former Rotarian from the Tulsa Southside Rotary Club.

Welcome to our Rotary Club and the world of Rotary or as Rotarian Maria Montoya Chavez said during her induction,” Welcome to our Rodeo”!   I’m pretty sure she meant our Rotary Club, but this might also be true!

The President's Corner

Dear Del Norte Rotary Club of Albuquerque Members,

As my tenure as President draws to a close this June, I find myself filled with a profound sense of gratitude and pride. Serving as your President this past year has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Together, we have accomplished incredible things, and I am deeply thankful for each of you who has contributed to making this year exceptional.

From our community service projects to our fundraising efforts, the dedication and compassion each member has shown has been nothing short of inspiring. We have touched many lives, not only in our local community but also globally, embodying the true spirit of Rotary. The success of our initiatives and the positive impact we have made is a testament to the collective effort and unwavering commitment of this remarkable group.

I am especially grateful for the support and guidance I have received from our board members and committee chairs. Your hard work behind the scenes has been crucial to our achievements, and I have been continually impressed by your leadership and creativity. I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to every member for your enthusiasm, participation, and camaraderie. It is your passion for service and fellowship that makes our club so special.

As I transition into my new role as Assistant Governor of our Rotary District 5520 starting July 1st, I am excited to continue serving our Rotary family in a different capacity. I am confident that with your ongoing support, our club will continue to thrive and make an even greater difference in the years to come.

Thank you once again for an extraordinary year. It has been an honor to lead and serve alongside you. I look forward to seeing all the amazing things we will accomplish together in the future.

With deepest gratitude and warmest regards,

Marty Padilla
