"My Story Behind My Stories"

Some 60-plus years ago, Del Norte Rotarian Eddie S. Hughes was a reporter and photographer for the Dallas Morning News. He covered President John F. Kennedy's visit to Fort Worth on November 22, 1963 before the president was assassinated in Dallas, and he covered the burial of alleged assassin Lee Harvey Oswald three days later. But during his seven-plus years at the Dallas News (1958-1965), his byline and photos appeared on Page One of Texas' largest daily newspaper (at the time) on a variety of topics, from feature stories about interesting people to hard-news stories involving murder trials to tornadoes and hurricanes. These are these stories he will report on, with only slight mention of his coverage of JFK's ill-fated visit to Texas in 1963.
